The LTRC creates Cilex

Gatineau: December 8, 2016. – The CRTL has duly created Cilex in order to be in alignment with its expansion towards technological innovation in effect since 2014.

Inspired by the mindset of a center for innovation, leadership and expertise in digital technology, the new name of Cilex – resounding with the consonances of Silex – refers to this versatile raw material with multidimensional functions that has contributed to the evolution of humankind. Sometimes used as a tool… sometimes exploited as building material, such a solid and versatile ground-stone rock is also the creative generator of sparks, a little wink tribute to the manufacturing history of the Outaouais region.

In the same way, ranging from incubation services to entrepreneurial space – through research and development, and technical support as well as innovation marketing – Cilex offers multiple services to innovative entrepreneurs in order to equip them to innovate and evolve on solid foundations. To make this happen, Cilex as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) surrounds itself with a vast network of university researchers from several fields of expertise, including but not limited to language professionals, as well as professionals active in the area of technological innovation. As Mr. Denis Harrisson, Rector of UQO, emphasizes: “Our university encourages and promotes interdisciplinary research initiatives, intra and inter-university collaborations and strategic partnership alliances fostering the transfer of knowledge for the benefit of the communities we are serving. Our partnership with Cilex is a very concrete example whereby several major interdisciplinary research projects are generating substantially significant academic and community impacts.”

Cilex also works in partnership with support structures for innovative entrepreneurship across Quebec and on the international scene. Cilex offers a wide range of activities and events designed to stimulate the entrepreneurial ecosystem and promote networking among the players and stakeholders within the technology and innovation community. “Cilex will work collaboratively with its partners and the entrepreneurial ecosystem to enable us to position ourselves as a technology hub.” – Mr. Alan Bernardi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cilex

The official announcement of the launching of Cilex was held on Thursday December 8, 2016 at a 5@7 gathering innovative entrepreneurs, organizations supporting entrepreneurship, university researchers and professionals within the field of technology innovation.

Altogether a catalyst for technological innovation and a living business facility for entrepreneurs, Cilex journeys together with startups, SMEs and other organizations in their transformation, improvement or technological development processes as well as in the commercialization or marketing of their innovations and digital transition.
